Hi family,
I’d like to share with you a new video I just released - a live recording from 2017 of three pieces from my album Memoire.
This was a project that fell by the wayside and I had no idea if I would ever release it. I was deliberating for a long time about this live recording, and couldn’t figure out how I felt about sharing this exposed performance - and as time went by, it made less and less sense to put it out.
A few months ago I had the urge to look at it again - I was curious to know how I’d feel now that 7 years have passed. Making an effort to put my embarrassment and self-judgement aside, I was very moved by the raw emotion that Dror Pikielny, the director and editor of this video was able to capture, and the complete conviction and true beauty in the playing of my band mates: Micha Gilad on piano, Noam Israeli on drums, and Yoni Marianer on bass, who also was the musical director of the album. For these two reasons, I felt like this had to be shared, regardless of how comfortable I feel. So here it is!
You can find the lyrics in the video description, and although the words come from my personal experiences, they symbolize to me so much that is broken in the world right now.
